Question regarding Permanent Pre-sear characters.
I've come across people in forums talking about permanent pre-sear characters, who never leave pre-sear. My question is, what is the point, what are the benefits, and any information about them will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance. |

That site might have some answers for you. But I think that most people that stay in pre do it to get the Legendary Defender of Ascalon title. And they must like the looks of pro a lot to stay there once they reach lvl 20 I guess |

Well, i have quite a few perma-pre characters.
The reason i do it is the atmosphere of pre is a lot different than post. -no worrys about money. -exploring and looking at the scenery is fun. -killing charr is fun -gives you that new player feel. -Looks much better than post ascalon. -catacombs are huge and fun to explore my highest level is lvl 14, don't plan on goin for LDoA either

I think it's because there isn't as many other things that drop from enemies in pre.

Legendary Defender of Ascalon is another title towards your character.... and is only relevant if you are a title hunter!
Presearing is also know as predye hunting. Yes, dyes drop a lot more often in presearing, then they do anywhere else. Ultimately, you also become like a god there once you reach a high level. Honestly, what could kill you there once you hit seventeen or so? |

Is the drop rate for dyes really higher in pre, or are you just more likely to see them drop because you're usually soloing?

Dye drops
It has been proven that they drop more often. I farm solo in pre and in every other area in gw and found this to be true also.

Dye farming with a perma-pre character is silly.
If you want to farm Dye, create a new character, get some Dye, then get to post-searing. If you want to stay in Pre, fine (I have a perma-pre character), but if you're farming dye, you're not planning to be permanent! |
